N2 - Open peer commentary on the article “Negotiating Between Learner and Mathematics: A Conceptual Framework to Analyze Teacher Sensitivity Toward Constructivism in a Mathematics Classroom” by Philip Borg, Dave Hewitt & Ian Jones. Upshot: While I appreciate sensitive teaching approaches to students’ learning mathematics using Grid Algebra software, I am unconvinced that the approaches described are constructivist in nature. To make further progress along the lines described by the authors a clearer articulation of its constructivist foundations is needed.
