Abstract

Open peer commentary on the article “The Maturanian Turn: Good Prospects for the Language Sciences” by Alexander V. Kravchenko. Abstract: The language sciences approach language from a complex perspective that includes appeals to the embodied nature of language, the biology of cognition and perception, and the crucial role of the listener/observer. Many aspects of Kravchenko’s desiderata for the field of linguistics are currently in practice, suggesting that the language sciences are not in quite so dire a situation as might seem at first glance.
