Bio Note: Andreas Gardt is full professor of linguistics of German at the University of Kassel. His work centers around the history and present of linguistic theory, especially the correlations of language and thought, the theory and practice of text and discourse analysis, and the role language plays in the construction of (cultural and political) identity. Gardt is a member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities and of the “Deutsche Akademie für Sprache und Dichtung” [German Academy of Language and Literature.
