Bio Note: Bénédicte Zimmermann
is professor of sociology at the Ecole des hautes études en Sciences Sociales in Paris and a Permanent Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (Institute for Advanced Study). Her main research interests are in the sociology of work, organizations and workers’ life trajectories as well as epistemologies and methodologies of the social sciences. Among her publications are “Beyond Comparison: Histoire croisée and the Challenge of Reflexivity” (2006, with Michael Werner), “Pragmatism and the Capability Approach: Challenges in Social Theory and Empirical Research” (2006); “From Critical Theory to Critical Pragmatism: Capability and the Assessment of Freedom” (2018).
