Bio Note: Claudia Carello is Professor Emerita of Psychology at the University of Connecticut. She specializes in visual, auditory, and haptic perception research and theorizing in the tradition of James Gibson’s ecological approach. She has published 150 journal articles and book chapters. Her co-authored primer, Direct Perception, has been influential in bringing that approach to a wide audience of philosophers, kinesiologists, and beginning students of perception. She is the founding Director of UConn’s Center for the Ecological Study of Perception and Action, a position she held until her retirement. She continues to serve on the Board of Directors of the International Society for Ecological Psychology.
