Bio Note: Jane Waite researches how programming is taught to primary learners (aged 5 to 11 years old) with particular focus on the role of design. Waite has worked in IT, as a school teacher and on a range of resource development and teacher support projects. Working at Queen Mary University of London, and previously at King’s College London, she has delivered a range of teacher education programmes and undertaken a variety of research projects. Work includes a review of the early use of the Micro: bit in schools, classroom studies of the PRIMM approach to teach programming projects, comparing the teaching of planning in writing to the teaching of design in programming.
